"The Seafarer": Dark Irish Comedy for the Holidays

If you prefer your holiday entertainment with a bit of a dark Irish bite, then "The Seafarer", a Tony-nominated Broadway hit by Conor McPherson ("The Weir, Shining City"), should do nicely under your tree. The Christmas Eve comedy revolves around a guy named Sharky, who returns home to Dublin to take care of his aging, irascible brother and try and stay off the sauce. He finds some old pals around as well for a friendly night of cards, but when a stranger from their distant past arrives, the game starts to take on some very high stakes -- Sharky's very own soul. This TheatreFIRST production comes to the stage at Berkeley's Live Oak Theatre.
