The Chuck McKinnon Mactet

Trumpeter Chuck MacKinnon's insatiable quest for musical adventure has propelled him into projects along a wide range of jazz styles, from straight-ahead to soul/jazz to improvised psychedelic electronica. MacKinnon's lastest project, as reflected on his recent CD, New Transmission, represents a return to his acoustic jazz roots, with hard-hitting arrangements for a 3-horn front line. An intriguing talent and an exciting, pioneering artist, trumpeter Chuck MacKinnon is a San Francisco native who came of age performing on the fertile local jazz scene. MacKinnon has performed around the world with star performers including the Duke Ellington Orchestra, the Cab Calloway Orchestra, Joe Henderson, James Moody, Rufus Reid, Randy Brecker, and many others. MacKinnon's very latest project, The Chuck MacKinnon "Mactet", an all acoustic venture, is the culmination of his musical career and features his three horn writing.
