About Spring Rep 2015

Experience a Range of Ballet Styles at Contra Costa's Spring Rep 2015

Contra Costa Ballet's Spring Rep 2015 is a delightful presentation of classical and contemporary ballet from the company's repertoire. Let yourself be "Carried Away" by a world premiere choreographed by Lauren Main de Lucia and set to the music of Ludovico Einaudi, as it soars with a breathtaking display of dancers dressed in elegant, flowing costumes. This graceful and uplifting ballet presents a landscape of emotions through a seamless fusion of classical and modern movement. Then revisit the company's very first Spring Rep nearly 30 years ago with "Mes Enfants". Now a treasured favorite, "Mes Enfants" was choreographed by Charles Anderson in 1987 for the younger dancers of the Contra Costa Ballet Centre. Charles Anderson's "What's Behind Door #3" offers an abstract, witty exploration of our everyday encounters with life's many doors. The athletic, contemporary ballet is set to the frenetic music of Phillip Bimstein interspersed with the eerie resonance of squeaky doors. Closing out the program is "Paquita". Originally performed as a full-length ballet, it was later revived as a shorter version, which has become a cornerstone of traditional, ballet repertoire. It's filled with a Spanish bravura that highlights the technical virtuosity of the Contra Costa Ballet Company. Spend a night reveling in the wonders of dance at the Lesher Center for the Arts
