About Smuin Ballet: "Unlaced"

Smuin Ballet's "Unlaced" Features Four Stunning Dance Works

Smuin Ballet continues breaking the boundaries of traditional dance with "Unlaced" -- an evening of vibrant, innovative works from some of the country's most exciting choreographers -- at the Lesher Center for the Arts' Hoffman Theater. Two works from the repertoire of Tony-winning choreographer Michael Smuin will be performed: the "Romeo and Juliet" balcony pas de deux, Smuin's take on Prokoviev, and "Heart's Suite", with music by Edith Piaf. From choreographer Helen Pickett, who studied as a dancer under Smuin at the San Francisco Ballet School, comes the return of "Petal", an effervescent piece set to music by Philip Glass and Thomas Montgomery Newman that was called "the perfect piece for spring" by Atlanta Magazine. "Unlaced" concludes with a world premiere from choreographer Adam Hougland, set to music by indie-rock singer-songwriter Joan as Police Woman.
