About "Project Ahab; or, Eye of the Whale"

New Folk-Rock Musical "Project Ahab; or, Eye of the Whale"

Central Works had a whale of an idea for their 48th world-premiere production. In a clever reversal on "Moby Dick", this new musical tells the story of a man determined to stop the practice of whale-killing, instead of one who's hell bent on succeeding at it. "Project Ahab" follows a group of hippies and mystics who decide to change the world in 1973, just as the ecological movement is picking up steam, and stars a cast full of talented actor-singer-musicians who make the most out of a score inspired by folk and seafaring songs, including tunes by local Berkeley icon Country Joe McDonald and others. Created by the same team behind 2013's "Red Virgin", Central Works' latest production comes to the stage at the Berkeley City Club as part of the company's 25th anniversary season.
