Founded in 1965, Oakland Ballet Company celebrates a 51-year legacy of presenting world-class, classical ballet and innovative, contemporary works by noted choreographers. OBC encompasses a professional performing company, an Academy instructing the next generation of dancers, and an amazing outreach program that enables thousands of community members to experience the joy of dance.

Under the leadership of internationally acclaimed choreographer, Artistic Director Graham Lustig, Oakland Ballet Company remains passionately committed to producing exciting and innovative dance, and increasing access to the arts in the community.

The “Discover Dance” education and community engagement program serves students, teachers, and community members throughout Oakland and the greater East Bay. This program provides arts education and access to live dance performance for more than 6,000 students and community members each season.

The Academy at Oakland ballet provides training to students ages 3 through 17, beginner through professional. The Academy’s focus is to provide classical ballet training, develop artistic expression through dance, and build self-confidence in a nurturing class environment.
