Maka Roots & Mellow Movement

Established 2014, Mellow Movement is the SF Bay Area's newest up and coming band in the reggae scene. Founded by brothers Nick (also of CRSB) and Thomas, along with good friends Kyle, Bobo, and Ryan. Their family-oriented vibes and strong sense of unified cultures is truly a sight to behold. They bring a fresh take on roots reggae mixed with island vibes and rock music. Mellow Movement has already played sold out shows around SF, including the legendary Yoshi's jazz club. Look out for them on the festival circuit with acts such as New Kingston, Yellowman, Easy Star All Stars etc.


Maka Roots musical journey has come full circle. From San Diego to Hawaii to Norcal and back, returning to his San Diego roots. With regular performances throughout California, Arizona, the southwest and future plans to tour in new territories. Hard work and perseverance are paying off. Maka Roots, alongside the I Sight Band are gaining momentum and building on their Reggae Fambase. Their live performances are reuniting reggae music fans to the foundation roots sound that is disappearing amongst non-Jamaican reggae bands. Bands that are predominant and common in the California reggae scene. Staying true to the Roots is now a stand out quality that Maka's music and live set humbly possess. The spirit and purpose of Maka's music is to perform and promote Conscious Roots and Livity. The objective, to create music with a message. To open the ears and uplift the mind. To move the hearts and lift the spirits. The live set is a refreshing, positive, upful and high energy experience.

Now based in San Diego, Maka has linked with new and long time bredren and musicians to reform The I Sight Band, a top ranking Roots quartet. Tight and crisp. Melodic and creative. Fierce and driving. Dubwise and bubbling. Their versatile set is a balance of styles from the reggae music spectrum. From conscious roots anthems to dancehall style, Rebel music to Lover's Rock, Maka Roots and the I Sight Band plays it all. Executed with precision and heart. The band consists of San Diego's top veteran reggae musicians. An all-star lineup of heartical bredren who share the same objective. Roots music for the masses.
