About "Love's Labour Lost"

Boy Bands Meet the Bard in Musical Comedy "Love's Labour Lost"

Besides Beyonce and Jay Z, America doesn't have any royalty. So the creators of "Love's Labour Lost", a musical comedy adaptation of Shakespeare's play, decided to set the action at a five-year college reunion and transform the princes and princesses into Ivy League grads who are veering between adulthood and party mode. While at the reunion, a man and his college buddies take an oath to spend the next three years studying, self-improving and removing themselves from worldly temptations -- most especially women. But when four girls from the guys' past re-emerge, all bets are off. With its head-bobbing pop tunes and current-day setting, "Love's Labour Lost" was hailed as a "gleeful riff" and a "tall, fruity drink of intoxicating delight" by "Time Out New York". The party gets started at Oakland's Douglas Morrisson Theatre.
