About Janis Ian & Tom Paxton - SAT 4/25
When she was only fifteen years old, Janis Ian broke into the recording world with her revolutionary hit song "Society's Child" which garnered her international recognition and the song and album as a Billboard hits. The song has also been entered into the Grammy Song Hall of Fame. Her anthem to adolescence. "At Seventeen" won the 1975 Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance - Female, with both song and album and "Between The Lines" went platinum. Janis has had numerous hits in Australia, England, Japan and many other countries and has recorded over 25 albums during her career. Many of her songs have been covered by the likes of Bette Midler, Roberta Flack, John Mellencamp, Amy Grant, Cher and others. Earning over fifteen Grammy nominations, her most recent win was in 2010 for Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album for her autobiography; "Society's Child."
