Jackie Gage & Lilan Kane

About Jackie Gage & Lilan Kane

Musical friends Lilan Kane and Jackie Gage have an undeniable charm and chemistry, witnessed in their individual works and artistic collaborations. Both singers have spent the last year cutting their teeth on original arrangements, steeped in tales of love and loss. The end result? Two debut albums from Kane and from Gage, Introducing Lilan Kane, and Siren Songs respectively.

The pair met in friendly competition during Jazz Search West 2014—both passionate vocalists with a strong footing in soul and jazz—and have spent the last year reflecting on their musical journeys. The singers were rooted in an all-female acapella group for some time, selling out shows at the Sound Room in Oakland, while also pursuing individual dreams, with performances at Fillmore Jazz Festival, San Jose Jazz Summer Fest, and other Bay Area staple events.

Both artists are rising stars in their own right; Berklee College of Music graduate Kane has been a voice backing blues-rooted acts like OTIS and Whiskey Hill, and can be heard leading her own soul groups or as the premier singer in Fil Lorenz Orchestra. And Gage has toured throughout California with her own take on classic music, spanning the state from Sacramento (Harlow’s) to San Diego (Dizzy’s). Her silky voice is best likened to smooth wine with a hint of spice, as she equally excels in stirring the souls of the audience surrounding her.

They’ve progressed in their solo careers, while holding a steadfast commitment to each other’s musical dreams. Tonight, they celebrate their artistic connection first fostered from a chance meeting at Jazz Search West.
