"Glengarry Glen Ross"
About "Glengarry Glen Ross"
David Mamet's "Glengarry Glen Ross" Satirizes the American Dream
A group of cutthroat Chicago real estate salesmen will go to any lengths -- from lies and flattery to bribery and burglary -- to unload parcels of Florida land on unsuspecting buyers in this darkly comic satire of the American Dream. The stakes are high: The top salesman wins a new Cadillac while the loser has to clean out his desk. Written by David Mamet ("American Buffalo", TV's "The Unit"), "Glengarry Glen Ross" draws on his real-life experiences at a Chicago real estate firm in the 1960s, serving as a scathing yet humorous critique of American business culture. The play won the Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award in 1984. This production at Berkeley's Live Oak Theatre features an all-star cast that includes Warren David Keith ("The Big Lebowski", "Raising Arizona") and Kevin Karrick ("Law and Order").Comments
