About "Feisty Old Jew"

Charlie Varon's "Feisty Old Jew": Acclaimed Solo Comedy

At age 83, the protagonist of "Feisty Old Jew" lives up to the show's title and then some in the latest piece of "comic gold" ("San Francisco Chronicle") from writer-performer Charlie Varon. Bernie is annoyed by a lot of current-day culture, including yoga studios, expensive coffeehouses and tattoo parlors, not to mention those who frequent such establishments. So when he happens upon a trio of 20-something surfers in a Tesla, he bets them $400,000 that he'll be able to ride a wave, though he's never hung ten in his life. Yet another hit from one of the Bay Area's favorite satirists, the show arrives at The Marsh Berkeley Arts Center after an acclaimed run in San Francisco.
