About Elton John & Tim Rice's AIDA
Performances two weekends: September 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13. (Fri & Sat 8 pm, Thurs & Sun 7 pm)
Verdi's 1871 opera is reborn as a lively pop musical. AIDA is an epic tale of love, loyalty and betrayal chronicling the love triangle between Aida, an enslaved Nubian princess, Amneris, an Egyptian princess, and Radames, the soldier they both love. Romantic and life-affirming, the show includes a wide variety of ethnic musical styles, with African, Middle Eastern, and Indian sounds. Songs have reggae, motown, and gospel influences, and include the mega-hit "Written in the Stars."
Performed under the stars by a large cast and a live professional orchestra, in Oakland's beautiful hillside Joaquin Miller Park. Come early and enjoy a picnic with your family, a walk in this hillside park, and the beautiful bay views. As the sun sets, take your seats in the amphitheater and enjoy an evening of music and magic under the stars.
Listed prices are for full price adult tickets. Discounts available for children, seniors, and groups. Kids Come Free program lets an adult paying full price bring a child or teen (up to 16) for free.
Final dress rehearsal (September 3) is open to the public as a Preview. All tickets are $18 at the door, after 7 pm. No advance sales, no reserved seats. No promos, discounts, or Kids Come Free.
