"Don't Stop Me": A New Musical From Youth Musical Theater Company

If "Glee" and "High School Musical" had a dancing lovechild, it would be "Don't Stop Me", the Youth Musical Theater Company's newly commissioned work, premiering at the Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts. Written by award-winning composer-lyricist Dave Malloy ("Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812") and playwright Krista Knight ("Salamander Leviathan"), "Don't Stop Me" follows Plain Springs High's first ever Dance-a-thon. With music transporting them to dance crazes throughout history, each contestant must face their deepest desires and greatest weaknesses as they hustle, shimmy, disco and more for a shot at college, internet fame and attention from their crushes. Inspired by the personal stories and struggles of YMTC students, "Don't Stop Me" explores the idea of coming of age as an endurance competition that requires a tireless drive to be better than what came before.
