About Diablo Ballet's "A Swingin' Holiday and More"
"A Swingin' Holiday": Diablo Ballet With Live Orchestra
With live accompaniment from a 16-piece big band, the Diablo Ballet jazzes it up once again this holiday, with their annual swing celebration set to the music of Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Nat "King" Cole and Wynton Marsalis, as well as a kicky rendition of "The Nutcracker Suite". Sean Kelly, the resident choreographer for the national tour of "Billy Elliot" and former principal of Houston Ballet, created "A Swingin' Holiday", which'll be joined on the program this year by the company premiere of the award-winning classical "Tchaikovsky Dances" duet, set to Tchaikovsky's score from the opera "Eugene Onegin", and the return of resident choreographer-dancer Robert Dekkers' stunning "AnOther". Stick around after the show for a post-performance dessert reception with the artists.Comments
