About Chanticleer: "Over the Moon"

Chanticleer: Grammy-Winning Voice Orchestra Performs "Over the Moon"

Even as the number of professional vocal groups skyrockets thanks to the a cappella craze, there has never been the slightest confusion over which ensemble reigns supreme: Chanticleer. "The New Yorker" stated the obvious when it declared the Bay Area ensemble "the world's reigning male chorus." Now the 12-member group takes audiences "Over the Moon" to a place of strong emotions and out-of-this-world artistry. In addition to premiering "Pierrot Lunaire," a new work from the internationally acclaimed composer Nico Muhly, Chanticleer will find the common human thread linking Mahler and Barber, Bates and Poulenc, Monteverdi and Mäntyjärvi. Expect goosebumps when this Grammy-winning "Orchestra of Voices" performs specially commissioned arrangements of popular composers such as Elbow, Bart Howard, Porter and Mancini at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Berkeley.
